NICHOLS TO BE MISSIONARIES-IN-RESIDENCE

MOORE, OK Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College recently announced the appointment of Lila and Darrel Nichols as the first Missionaries-in-Residence. The missionary couple will minister to students while representing Free Will Baptist International Missions in the classroom.

The missionary-in-residence program was made possible when Hillsdale President Tim Eaton elected to maintain an off-campus residence, liberating the presidential home on campus for the program. The large home is equipped with a high-tech office, complete with a computer, multifunction printer-photocopier, and a high-speed internet connection.

“We are the first to enjoy the generosity of the college and Women Active for Christ. Due to generous giving, the home is newly remodeled and fully and graciously furnished, ” said Nichols when asked about their new campus home.

“How loved we feel as missionaries coming in from the tropics to be given this beautiful home and bask in the central air conditioning. Still, much of our quiet time is spent in the swing on the front porch looking out over the campus and dreaming of seeing students motivated to evangelism in Jerusalem, Judea and the uttermost parts of the earth.”

GOLF TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS

MT. JULIET, TN Weather conditions were hot and dry at the 2006 Master’s Men National Golf Tournament. A record crowd of eighty-five men and one woman gathered just after sunrise to compete in the event.

When the shotgun blast kicked things off at 7:30 a.m., the temperature was mild. As the day went on, however, temperatures soared while scores dropped. Low scores confirmed it was a great day for golf. With an eight-under-par score of 64, the team of Byron Ross and Ronnie Anderson walked away with top honors. Ron Hunter and Ronnie Railey finished one stroke behind with a 65.

The tournament was followed by a lunch featuring TN Bar-B-Q. After lunch trophies were awarded and door prizes were distributed to most competitors. aster’s Men extends thanks to all golfers and hole sponsors.

NATIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT “HEATS UP”

ANTIOCH, TN “Hot, Hot, Hot” is the only way to describe the 2006 Master’s Men National Softball Tournament. Twenty-seven teams from eight states endured temperatures soaring into the 90s.

Not only was the weekend hot, it was wet! Heavy rains mid-tournament demanded a change of location and the tournament moved to a field in Mt. Juliet, TN. As a result of the shortened tournament, double elimination became single elimination. When the mud cleared, two teams from Kirby FWB Church in Michigan walked away with top honors. The Kirby Red team won the Championship tournament and the Kirby Blue team won the Consolation tournament.

Master’s Men thanks all participants for their patience during the weather-related changes. Make plans now to enter your team in the 2007 tournament. For more information about Master’s Men sports ministry, visit the website: www.nafwb.org/mm.
