WNAC Updates Provision Closet

Antioch, TN — At this year’s National Convention, WNAC featured a “pop-up” Provision Closet in their booth in the Exhibit Hall. The Provision Closet is a warehouse located in the WNAC office in Nashville, Tennessee, filled with anything and everything missionaries and church planters could need, either on the field or stateside.

I was privileged to help manage the pop-up Provision Closet at the convention. We received donations from churches across the denomination on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, missionaries and church planters attending the convention stopped by and picked up anything they needed.

I spoke with missionaries and church planters who needed little things: measuring cups, sheets, bedding for growing kids. One new missionary was overwhelmed at the thought of what she’d need or what she could even take with her. We were able to provide her gift cards, since every missionary needs good luggage.

A recently appointed church-planting family stopped by for cooking utensils and sheets. The husband, who grew up in a church planting family, knew the Provision Closet well. He told me about visiting the closet in Nashville as a child. His family picked out a box with a hand-crank radio pictured on it, and he and his siblings were thrilled to get it home. When they opened it, they found beautiful glass goblets instead. His parents handed these down to his family when they were appointed as new church planters.

I could share many other stories — pitchers to serve lemonade to international students and utensils to prepare meals for families who haven’t heard the gospel. We even supplied items for missionary kids moving into their new dorms.

Your gifts have made — and continue to make — a difference.

If a one dollar Go Fish! card game can be used to teach English, imagine what else can make a difference? The Provision Closet doesn’t just serve the world; it reaches the world with the gospel, as missionaries and church planters use the items you’ve given to reach people for Christ.
