God calls each home missionary to North America to preach the good news and to plant a church in his specified city. That call motivates him to focus on his task every day. God also equips each missionary with wonderful gifts to help him reach his goal.
His Greatest Gift
The most important gift for the missionary is a faithful wife. Without the encouragement, assistance, and team spirit of a committed wife, he will not succeed. She is his dearest and best friend on earth. Together they will win and disciple precious souls and bring the mission church to autonomy. Their commitment to God and to one another is the bedrock and foundation for growing a strong Free Will Baptist church. Their marriage must reflect Christ’s sacrificial love for His bride, the church.
Spotlight on Matrimony
At Home Missions, we realize the importance of a strong marriage for our church planters. Often, when we meet to pray, we ask God to fortify each couple and to build a hedge of protection around their family and home. We pray that the husband will provide loving leadership for his family. We pray that his family will be strengthened by their faithful “followship.” Our earnest prayer is that God will protect each couple from immorality and keep their marriages pure. Satan is desperate to destroy the foundation of each church planter, his marriage and family. Would you please pray for them today?
Successful Soul Winners!
Church planters win hundreds of souls to Christ each year. They baptize, make new disciples, and bring them into the body of Christ. Missionaries build outstanding facilities in cities across North America and reach families through local schools, hospitals, civic organizations, funeral homes, and dozens of other venues. These men and women are “mighty in His Spirit” to pull down the strongholds of evil. They champion the cause of Christ every day. By the authority of Christ, the missionaries liberate people from the bondage and shackles of sin. A good marriage and home life provide invaluable support for these missionaries doing the work to which the Lord has called them. The Word of God gives them a code to live by, a creed to believe in and a cause to serve.
Rev. Larry A. Powell is a former church planter. After starting three churches in North America, hed now serves as general director of the Home Missions Department.
